A Volunteer with a special way of Giving Back

Vivian and Les Newill have been volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House since  -----.  They have lovingly dedicated their time to helping and caring for our families.  They also help the House in a very unique way.

Vivian  is painter and naturalist.  She loves animals, the outdoors and spending time with her husband.  By combining these three passions in a special way, she has found an amazing hobby that allows her to give back even more to RMHCT.

One of Vivian's Creations

Vivian Newill is the creator of Rockpettes, rocks that she has hand-painted into animals.  Les and Vivian rock hunt together and find interesting stones that Vivian feels are special.  Just as some of us can look at the clouds and see the shapes of animals, Vivian can look at a rock and see the animal locked inside.

Les takes great care in preparing and washing the rocks that Vivian paints.   Vivian works her magic by consulting photographs of pets for rocks people commission or uses her imagination to follow the rocks contours. Finally , Les finishes the rocks with waterproofing to ensure Vivian’s creation will stand the test of time.

Vivian's Works of Art

How does this benefit RMHCT you may ask? Vivian does not charge for her creations.  She asks purchasers to donate to a charity the amount they feel is fitting for her work. Thanks to Vivian’s and Les’ efforts, the House receives several donations in their honor.
