What happens when you realize you missed celebrating National Grilled Cheese day? Volunteers plan the biggest grilled cheese celebration anyone could ask for!
At RMH, we are always looking for fun and interesting ways to brighten our guests days. One volunteer mentioned that there is actually a National Grilled Cheese Day and that was April 12th.
Seeing this as a perfect opportunity to provide the guests with a light hearted reprieve and some delicious food, Pattie an RMH Volunteer and our Board President announced that Grilled Cheese day would soon take place. Guests were invited as volunteers and staff helped set up the display of breads, cheeses, pulled chicken (homemade by Pattie), chips and anything you could think to add to your grilled cheese! All were grilled to perfection by “Chef Big Cheese Pattie”.
Signature sandwiches included the Sandillo Sandwich, the Schappa Supreme, the Wendy Melt, the Isaac Incredible and Cathy’s Cheesy-Chicken Combo!
The afternoon concluded with an ice cream sundae bar provided by another RMH volunteer and Board Secretary, Anne. Guests piled on the toppings, whip cream and sprinkles with delight. The ability to create a special celebration any day of the week is truly a gift. The smiles, laughter and good memories it creates is the greatest gift anyone could ask for.
