Mission Statement

The Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut is a "home away from home" primarily for families of children who are being treated at nearby hospitals and other healthcare facilities.

Kids Helping Kids

Since 1987, Connecticut school children have been the heart of the Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut Lights of Love fund raising campaign. Inspired by the generosity of one Cheshire student, the campaign has grown to include the participation of thousands of children from public and private schools throughout the state.

This statewide involvement of children in support of Connecticut's only Ronald McDonald House is what makes our event so special … "Kids Helping Kids."

How Do Kids Help?

There are many ways kids can help. Students have joined in everything from penny wars to dress down days to bake sales in order to raise money. We believe this campaign teaches children the importance of reaching out and helping those less fortunate than themselves.

Each year, Kids Helping Kids works with the Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut to celebrate the Holiday Season with two events, Lights of Love and Trees of Hope. Hundreds of school children across the state organize their own fund raisers to help with this holiday event.

The Governor declares Ronald McDonald House Week which ends with a tree lighting ceremony in conjunction with our Trees of Hope event. Two children from each participating school are invited along with their parents and school personnel for fun, food and a visit with Santa Claus and Ronald McDonald to celebrate their efforts.
