Mission Statement

The Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut is a "home away from home" primarily for families of children who are being treated at nearby hospitals and other healthcare facilities.

Junior Board Loves Working with Kids!

“I love working with kids and helping them,” says Junior Board member
Katherine Shidler. “The House is a great place and I love being involved in such a caring and giving environment.”

Kids at Ronald McDonald House of CTTwenty high school students who share Shidler’s love of working with children are members of our Junior Board. Adult advisors Marianne Metcalfe, Pattie McKnight, and Meryl Silver help them organize fundraisers and plan activities for children at the House.

Instead of electing officers, Board members take turns running meetings. “This way, everyone has an opportunity to be a leader,” explains Metcalfe. They also get a chance to make friends with students from other schools.

Jr Board Kids

This year, the Junior Board has entertained children with a Valentines Day
Party and Pizza and Movie Night at the House and served as volunteers at Trees of Hope. On May 17, they hosted Tag Sale Treasures as a fundraiser.
